Cardinal Benedikt Lutz, formerly the Archbishop for the Grand Cathedral of Aquilos, is an elderly and once influential member of the Church of Hijjia. Known as a wandering bishop within much of his adult life, Lutz witnessed much of the Great War within Hoffnung, and the atrocities committed by the mysterious Foreman and his Luftmarines, recording much of the experience to be later archived. Despite these horrors, Lutz survived the war as a relatively nonchalant individual, continuing to preach upon the behalf of the Church, though mostly relegated to less stressful duties as a result of his advanced age.
